Since the beginning, people thought epilepsy were evil spirits, demons,or holy spirits that had invaded the body. Ancient Romans thought this was contagious, if you touched or breathed on a person with epilepsy, youd get it too.They would "spit" to rid the demon. Priests attempted to rid these dominions out of the body with prayers.
During the era of the Renaissance, people thought those who had seizures were prophets because they could see past, present, and future. Moving on to the Enlightenment, many were locked up in mental hospitals thinking this was contagious to the general public. Some were even operated to keep from having children.
Scientific research and treatment has helped people live NORMAL LIVES. Too bad some people still have strange ideas about epilepsy. THEY NEED HELP!!!
